In a powerful step toward holistic elder care and community upliftment, Brahma Kumaris signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, for conducting a series of welfare programmes for senior citizens across the country.
The MoU was formally exchanged between Rajyogini BK Asha, Member, Management Committee, Brahma Kumaris, Mount Abu, and Shri Amit Yadav, Secretary, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. The ceremony took place in the esteemed presence of:

Held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre, the event was part of the national initiative ‘Ageing with Dignity’, which also included the launch of a senior citizens’ welfare portal, virtual inaugurations of senior citizen homes, and the distribution of assistive devices.
Objectives of the Collaboration

Facilitate spiritual and emotional self-upliftment of senior citizens.

Promote dignity, purpose, and active engagement in society.

Bridge generational gaps through intergenerational bonding initiatives.

Conduct workshops on healthy living, meditation, and mental well-being.

Disseminate awareness of government schemes and elder care initiatives.
Joint Responsibilities

The Government will extend support, including transportation reimbursements, and facilitate program hosting in senior citizen homes, RWAs, and community centers.

Brahma Kumaris will conduct these sessions voluntarily through its nationwide centres and trained faculty, involving affiliated bodies like RERF, BKES, and WRST.
All sessions under this initiative will be conducted free of charge, reinforcing the Brahma Kumaris’ ethos of selfless service.
President’s Reflections
President Droupadi Murmu praised the initiative, stating, “Elder people are a link to the past and guides to the future. It is our responsibility as a nation to ensure that our seniors live their old age with dignity and activeness.” She highlighted the value of spiritual strength in helping elders live more meaningful and fulfilled lives.
Moving Forward
This MoU opens doors to a campaign-mode national outreach where spirituality, compassion, and community come together for elder empowerment. The initiative reaffirms the Brahma Kumaris’ dedication to building a value-based society by honoring and uplifting its senior members.
